Where do I even start??? It has been a stressful 2 weeks before my visit to Ford Fairfield. I visited Toyota Vacaville and regretted it the minute I walked into that place. We were seated at a desk, left to wonder what was going on and wasn't checked on while we waited. I was told to come down to apply, promised of being able to be approved for a NEW Toyota Camry, sent home while my application was being "process" and then no follow up to let me know if my application had been approved or not. After about 5 1/2 hours I called the dealership and they said "oh sorry, your application was declined." I was so mad at this point but because I needed a car I decided to visit Ford Fairfield. When I arrived none of the sales agents rushed out to assist me. Instead I was left to do browsing on my own, which I loved! I was so discouraged when I left Vacaville that I didn't think I'd find anything within my price range. I was lucky enough to find a used Honda Accord with only 22K miles on it! Great condition and in my price range. Michelle, my Sales Associate, helped me with my application and even got me an approval all within about an hour. After my approval it was time to sign my papers with the Finance Manager, Robert Morales. He was very helpful and put my mind at ease about a lot of the finance small print. Their teamwork and dedication to helping me find the right car for my budget was absolutely what I needed. I would recommend anyone to Ford Fairfield if they're in the market for a new or even a used car. Thank you Michelle and Robert for making my experience a pleasurable one!!!

My experience with Daryl at Fairfield Ford was excellent. I had been shopping for months and discovered the Ford C-Max at another Suburu/Ford dealership. I had also placed my current car on Auto Trader. Daryl and I exchanged several e-mails over a 10 day period and then I was able to drive to Fairfield from the East Bay and I drove home with a C-Max. I was given an offer on my trade-in which was slightly above the Auto Trader price. I was impressed with how easy the whole process was and how low-key and knowledgeable Daryl was. He ran back and forth driving out different colors for me to compare. Their warranty and free first year oil change and inspection is a plus. I had no problems and this was the easiest car purchase I have made in a 45 years of buying and selling cars.

The engineering and design teams at Ford Motor Company have produced a unique U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT. This car will be donated by Ford to be sold at the Gathering of Eagles charity event on Thursday, Aug. 1 during the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh 2013 – the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.

 

All proceeds from the car donation and sale will benefit the EAA Young Eagles program, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992, helping inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators and innovators.

 

Ford is the exclusive automotive sponsor of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, held July 29 through Aug. 4 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis.

 

“The dedication and excellence displayed by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds are qualities we also celebrate at Ford,” said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors. “With this year’s beautiful U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang, we’ve captured the recognizable symbols of their stature and paired it with the innovation our Ford design and engineering teams build into all of our products.

 

“Through this project,” Ford added, “we take great pride in continuing our support for EAA and the Young Eagles organization.”

 

This unique U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Ford Mustang GT celebrates and commemorates the 60^th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the fastest, multi-jet flight demonstration team in the world. Thunderbirds fly the F-16 Falcon, known for its glossy red, white and blue paint scheme.

 

This one-of-a-kind car is VIN 0001. The design of the modified 2014 Mustang GT 5.0-liter glass-roof coupe exudes a creative connection to the Thunderbirds, with a contemporary flair for the serious collector.

 

The exterior will showcase a custom brilliant white paint with red and blue accents, as well as markings and logos, tying it to the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Falcon aircraft. The unique treatment includes wide body modifications and a handcrafted and painted “belly pan” that emulates the F-16 Thunderbird appearance. TS Designs handcrafted the front and rear wide body elements, Creations n’ Chrome crafted the unique belly pan – plus applied the paint and markings – and Forgiato created custom 22-inch wheels to further differentiate this Mustang from anything else on the road.

 

Unique interior details of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Ford Mustang GT include a modified navigation screen, instrument cluster and rear seat-delete. The car’s Recaro^® seats include embroidered Thunderbirds elements. Additional features include unique sill plates and puddle lamps that project the aircraft silhouette when the doors open.

 

Ford Racing components will boost the performance to an extraordinary level. With the addition of a Ford Racing supercharger, suspension handling pack and Brembo^® brakes, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang will exude class, power and performance.

The unique vehicles produced by Ford in support of EAA Young Eagles include the Mustang AV8R, with cues from the F-22 “Raptor,” which in 2008 helped introduce the glass-roof canopy and delivered a record auction contribution of $500,000. In 2009 Ford’s AV-X10 “Dearborn Doll” Mustang was crafted in honor of World War II aircraft. In 2010 two automotive icons – the late Carroll Shelby, a former U.S. Air Force flight instructor, and Jack Roush, longtime P-51 pilot – collaborated for the first time to create the SR-71 “Blackbird” Mustang inspired by the legendary reconnaissance jet. The “Blue Angels” Mustang in 2011 celebrated 100 years of United States naval aviation, and last year’s “Red Tails” Mustang paid homage to the Tuskegee Airmen, the courageous squadron of P-51 Mustang pilots who were the United States’ first African American military airmen.

Ford Tests High-Tech “Brake Light” That Warns Other Drivers Even From Afar

• Ford tests early warning car-to-car communication feature that alerts following drivers to vehicles braking ahead – even around corners and through traffic
• Experimental technology called “Electronic Brake Light” transmits a wireless signal to illuminate a dashboard light on following vehicles
• The technology is among 20 systems Ford tested for Safe Intelligent Mobility – Testfield Germany (sim^TD); the joint industry research project’s field testing period, which concluded in December last year, finds intelligent transport systems could reduce congestion and potentially improve safety
• Specially-equipped Ford S-MAX models were used to test the technologies for sim^TD; Ford also tested Obstacle Warning, which alerts drivers to objects on the road, and Traffic Sign Assistant, which provides up-to-date information from traffic management centres

Ford Motor Company participated in a special test of a high-tech early warning “brake light” that can warn drivers following behind even if they are around a bend or behind other traffic. 

The technology is one of 20 potential future systems Ford tested as part of Safe Intelligent Mobility – Testfield Germany (sim^TD), a four-year joint industry research project.

In emergency braking situations, the experimental “Electronic Brake Light” transmits a wireless signal to illuminate a dashboard light in cars following behind. The study found the technology could enable drivers following behind to brake earlier and potentially mitigate or avoid a collision.

The closing presentation for the sim^TD project today took place in Frankfurt, Germany, with a demonstration of technologies including those tested and developed by Ford, and a summary of the findings from the research project’s field tests, which concluded in December 2012.

The sim^TD field tests took place in the Frankfurt region and involved 500 test drivers in 120 vehicles – including 20 Ford S-MAX models. Testers logged more than 41,000 hours and 1.6 million kilometers on public roads and an enclosed test track.

“Car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communications represent one of the next major advancements in vehicle safety,” said Paul Mascarenas, Ford’s chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation. “Ford is committed to further real-world testing here and around the world with the goal of implementation in the foreseeable future.”

Ford used specially-equipped Ford S-MAX models to help test the potential of car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communication; also testing Obstacle Warning system, which alerts to the presence, position and type of potentially hazardous objects in the road, and Traffic Sign Assistant, that remains in contact with traffic management centres for up-to-date information.

Engineers from Ford’s European Research Centre in Aachen, Germany, led the Electronic Brake Light development, testing and data analysis.

Further technologies tested for sim^TD included:

• Public Traffic Management, which provides exact traffic prognosis based on comprehensive information; this includes identifying likely traffic scenarios and their impact at the point in the journey when they are encountered rather than at the point of departure   
• In-car Internet Access, which, for example enables the driver to receive information about free parking spaces or check traffic hotspots by receiving up-to-date pictures from traffic cameras.

As a global leader in researching car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communications, Ford is engaged in the European Commission-supported field operational tests DRIVE C2X, and in the U.S. contributing to Safety Pilot Model Deployment, a field test of more than 2,800 vehicles in cooperation with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Collating results from these programmes supports Ford’s objective of harmonising standards for messaging and hardware globally that would enable the delivery of new technologies faster, more efficiently, and more economically.

sim^TD is a joint project by leading German automotive manufacturers, component suppliers,  communication companies, research institutions and public authorities. The funding for the project was approximately €53 million, of which €30 million of direct project promotional support was provided by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) together with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The project was further supported by infrastructure investment from the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) as well as active participation from the state of Hessen. The consortium involved representatives from all major interest groups, including Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, Opel, Volkswagen, Bosch, Continental, Deutsche Telekom, regional infrastructure operators and German Research Institutions (Technische Universität München und Berlin, Universität Würzburg, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft).

I'm quite surprised about some of the poor reviews on this site because I had a great experience with Ford Fairfield. I didn't actually go there expecting to buy a new vehicle - I had my old high-mileage F-150 towed there when it broke down. When I went to pick it up, I took a couple of minutes to look at the new F-150's and I liked what I saw. I went home and did some research and came up with a target number that I figured would require a lot of haggling to get to. I went back the next day and their first number was actually about $1000 less than the number I was shooting for (and yes, it was a fixed, no haggle price). I worked with Gus Davila and Kyle and was very happy with the way I was treated. Gus was very knowledgeable about the truck and spent lots of time going through the systems & technology (the Synch system is very cool). There was no pressure and they were able to help me out with a paperwork issue with my old truck that allowed me to get some additional incentives from Ford that were only good that weekend. I've been contacted several times since buying the truck to make sure I was happy and to see if there were any questions/issues with it.
