Ford to Produce Special 1-of-1 Vehicle In Support of Henry Ford Health System's "Get Your Heart Racing Event"

Shelbygt500emblem
"DEARBORN, Mich., May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Henry Ford Health System and Ford Motor Company join forces on the 2012 "Get Your Heart Racing" fundraiser at the Ford Dearborn test track on September 22, 2012.

A unique and muscular 1-of-1 Ford Shelby GT500 will be auctioned with revenue supporting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute. A customized Ford Focus will be given as a door prize.

Event will offer a multitude of performance driving activities and exhibitions.

There is arguably no better way to 'Get Your Heart Racing' faster than by jumping into the driver's seat of the all new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 and unleashing its 662 heart-pounding horsepower towards a top speed north of 200 mph. No better way, that is, unless the Shelby GT500 is a one-of-a-kind vehicle unlike any other on the road.

Executives from Henry Ford Health System and Ford Motor Company gathered at the Lingenfelter Collection in Brighton, MI this month to announce that a unique 1-of-1 version of this Super 'Stang will be produced and made available exclusively via an auction to be held at the Henry Ford's Get Your Heart Racing fundraiser on September 22, 2012 at the ultra-private Ford test track in Dearborn.

"Even with his rich racing pedigree, it's hard to imagine what Henry Ford might have thought had he ever encountered such a massively powerful vehicle as the 2013 Shelby GT500," said John Felice, general manager Ford and Lincoln Marketing. "However, we're fairly certain he'd be thrilled that the vehicle carried the Ford oval AND that it was being auctioned to support the critically important work of saving lives."

Get Your Heart Racing is more than just Henry Ford Health System's most successful fundraiser - it's a car enthusiast's dream come true -- an exclusive opportunity to experience Dearborn's renown test track and proving grounds with hot laps, drag races, wet pad tests, coned driving challenges and off-road experiences. Visit www.getyourheartracing.org to watch a three minute video from last year's event and learn more about the specific driving elements and ticket opportunities.

Following the driving events, guests will kick back at the Pit Party to watch a drifting and driving demonstration hosted by world-class professional drivers. Then they can hang out with the drivers and enjoy amazing food, beverages and entertainment. And, one very lucky participant will win a brand new tricked-out Ford Focus - how's that for the ultimate door prize raffle!

"The September 22 date needs to be etched into the minds of any auto and Ford enthusiasts who have always wanted to experience the Ford test track, but never had the opportunity - that is, until now," said Sandy Hudson, Senior Development Officer at Henry Ford Health System. "Spend the afternoon in a veritable auto nirvana and then, in the evening, let the pros take over and show us all how it's really done. Like the Shelby GT 500 that we'll auction, this event is truly one of a kind."

The 1-of-1 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, customized by Ford designer and former Henry Ford patient Melvin Betancourt, features a stunning white exterior paint scheme with contrasting white graphics and 20" white wheels. The racing-inspired cockpit boasts white leather Recaro seats stitched with a black contrast thread for an overall design theme that is worthy of this car's outstanding heritage.

The Ford Focus "giveaway" vehicle is also a one-of-a-kind vehicle outfitted with "Euro Series" body kit from aftermarket specialist, 3d Carbon. The vehicle exudes confidence with an aggressive stance and styling cues including a rear spoiler, custom exhaust and black tuxedo metallic paint with solid white asymmetrical competition stripes and high performance 20-inch Forgiato wheels.

"Shelby" driving tickets for the full day's driving events including the Pit Party are $1,000 each or $1,750 for a two person team. Tickets for the evening Pit Party are $250. Both tickets include sumptuous food, beverage, music, the drifting demonstration, the chance to win the Ford Focus and the opportunity to tour the legendary track and mingle with professional drivers. Event proceeds benefit the important work of the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute at Henry Ford Health System. A portion of the ticket purchase is tax deductible.

All guests will be able to bid on a range of fabulous auction items including the 1-of-1 Shelby GT500. Phone bidders are also welcome for the vehicle auction."

Come in for an oil change, leave with a new 2012 Ford Escape! This customer did!

Yelp
"I took my 2006 Ford Escape in for an oil change the other day and while I was waiting I went over to the showroom to take a look at the 2012 Escapes.  Was really impressed with the price and all the features that they were equipped with. Since I have always enjoyed my 2006 Escape I had been thinking about upgrading to a new one.  My salesperson Adam was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the product.  What I liked the best about the Ford staff  was that  everyone was very friendly but not pushy.  Even though I wasn't sure that I was ready to walk out with a new car they gave me the same consideration and help as if I had already made up my mind to buy one that day. After going over trade in value for my 2006 and payment options  for a new 2012  I ended up leaving with a brand new 2012 Escape straight off the showroom floor.  The experience was great!!  The staff was wonderful!!  We're all looking to get the best deal and the Ford staff proved that the buying experience can be a win-win situation."

Ford and SVT Celebrate 20 Years of High Performance with SVTOA Superfest at Virginia International Raceway

Svt
Cavalcade of historic SVT vehicles to be displayed on-site

"ALTON, Va., May 22, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- --Ford to exhibit latest models, including the 200 MPH, 650 HP 2013 Ford Shelby GT500

--First look at exciting new 2013 252 HP Ford Focus ST

Ford Motor Company's high-performance division, Special Vehicle Team (SVT), is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, which includes the Special Vehicle Team Owners Association's (SVTOA) annual "SVT Superfest" at the world-class Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va., over Memorial Day Weekend.

Ford Motor Company will be on-site throughout the weekend with some historic and truly "special" vehicles produced through the years. Attendees who come by the Ford booth will get a first-hand look at the "snake" that started it all, the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra R, as well as SVT's 2002 Focus and the Lighting Bolt Ranger prototype.

"We're excited to bring a few monumental SVT vehicles that represent our rich performance history," said Jim Owens, marketing manager at Ford Motor Company. "But the real rock stars of Superfest will be the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, Boss 302 Mustang and Focus ST."

Taking place May 25-27, this high-octane event will feature three track days open to members of the SVT Cobra Mustang Club, SVTOA or Track Club USA. Other exciting events include the SVT, Mustang and Ford Show, a Friday night social cookout and a banquet on Saturday night. Attendees without a Ford vehicle to race on the track can still fulfill their need for adrenaline filled activities with go-kart racing, skeet shooting and much more.

Ford's SVT group officially debuted its first two vehicles at the 1992 Chicago Auto Show with the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra and SVT F-150 Lightning. The highest output pony car of the time, the 1993 SVT Cobra Mustang featured a 235 horsepower 5.0 liter V8.

"The SVT group has the unique ability to connect innovative ideas born in the 'skunk works' department into practical, record crushing performance machines," added Owens. "Their ability to push the envelope has resulted in amazing cars that have altered the performance landscape. I can't think of any other American auto manufacturer that's had the impact on balanced performance than Ford Motor Company and SVT."

Over the years, the SVT group has been involved in some of the most important performance cars in the world. Producing more than 210,000 cars and trucks, the impressive list includes the Ford GT, Cobra Mustang R, SVT F-150 Lightning, Shelby GT500KR, SVT Focus and F-150 SVT Raptor.

From that original 235 HP SVT Mustang, the SVT group has made significant strides. In Nov. 2011, Ford, SVT and Carroll Shelby unveiled the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 with a newly engineered 5.8 liter supercharged V8 that produces a staggering 662 horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque. This makes the new GT500 the most powerful pre-title production V8 in the world, demonstrating just how far SVT products have come in the last 20 years.

On the other end of the performance spectrum, Ford recently introduced its Focus ST, which the SVT group helped engineer. This amazing piece of technology features a 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with direct injection, variable intake and exhaust timing and center-exit exhaust pipes. Ford gave this feisty racer 18 inch wheels with summer compound tires, a variable ratio steering rack and put in a six-speed manual transmission for added performance.

"We hope everyone can make it out to see these phenomenal SVT and Ford vehicles in action and on display," said Steve Ling, North America Car Marketing Manager at Ford. "The SVT SuperFest will be the first time our 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 supercar, as well as the hot Focus ST, will appear in Virginia. The most gratifying reward is to see all the historic SVT cars built during the past two decades being enjoyed. That inspires us for the next twenty years."

Another 5-Star Review. Awesome Job Benny!

Yelp

"Ask for Benny Maldonado.  There's no better car shopping experience anywhere.  I told Benny what I was looking for and price range, and that's what I got. No typical car salesman tactics.  Traded in my 15 year old car and got good kbb value."

Two Positive Reviews on Yelp. Way to Go Team!

Ford_logo
"Drove out here on May 2nd to take a look at the Ford Escape. I looked on the Fairfield Ford website and they seemed to have the best deals on the 2012 Escape. Took the Escape out for a test drive and was impressed. Was thinking about trading in my 2005 Honda. While on the test drive the salesman, Adam asked me how much I wanted to get for my trade-in. I refused to tell him and he didn't ask any further questions. Once we got back to the delership I asked how much I could get on a trade-in. I and a sales manager took my car out for a test drive. Once we returned a few problems were noticed with my car. In the end, Fairfield Ford gave me the Fair http://KBB.com trade-in value of my car. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 star review instead of a 5, is the finance person. To me she seemed a little pushy. I realize they're trying to make money, but when I say no, I mean no. Don't ask me twice about the extended warranty and why I don't want it.  In conclusion, awesome, non-pushy salesman (Adam) but a somewhat pushy finance person."

"When you enter the showroom of Fairfield Ford Lincoln there is a sign hanging on the wall which reads "NO HASSLE ZONE" and it is not a slogan that they use but rather it is actual practice. They don't hassle you; there are no high pressure sales.

I dreaded going to buy a new car because I did not want to deal with the "used car salesmen" mentality but I was pleasantly surprised by the folks at the Fairfield Ford Lincoln dealership. My salesman, Evo, was very personable and he did not hound me or try to get me to buy until I was ready to buy.  The Sales Manager and the Finance Manager were also very helpful, courteous, and patient about my wanting to make a decision that I would want to live with for years to come.

I purchased a Ford F-150 with the Ecoboost Engine and a max tow package, among other things, and they went out of their way to find the vehicle I wanted; even if that vehicle was not currently in their inventory. They have an excellent Routine Maintenance Plan and they even offer free weekly car washes to people who purchase one of their vehicles. I am very pleased how my new car-buying experience went at Fairfield Ford Lincoln, and yes, I would buy a car from them in the future and I highly recommend the Fairfield Ford Lincoln dealership in Fairfield, California."

Ford Focus Crowned Best Medium Car At The 2012 Diesel Car Awards

036178-ford-focus-crowned-best-medium-car-2012-diesel-car-awards
"BRENTWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – May 15, 2012: The all-new Ford Focus is best diesel medium car thanks to its contemporary style and refinement – as declared by Diesel Car magazine at its 2012 awards.

According to Diesel Car magazine, buyers are particularly attracted by its style and contemporary cabin. The all-new Ford Focus fought off competitors including the Hyundai i30 and Volkswagen Golf.

Editor, Ian Robertson, added: “Still the one to beat among mid-sizefamily cars, the Ford Focus is simply the best in its class.”

Ford Focus has just surpassed the landmark 1,500,000 sales since its launch in 1998 and continues to dominate its segment. The all-new Focus is recognised for its driver assistance technologies and refined drive, and offers a number of fuel efficient powertrains including the popular 1.6 TDCi which emits 109g CO2/km while returning 67mpg*.

This diesel engine has been further optimised with a new injection system and turbocharger, enhanced charge-air cooling and friction-reduction technologies. It will be introduced in the UK market next month in the Focus ECOnetic Technology which is capable of CO2 emissions as low as 88g/km.

Other Ford models acknowledged at this year’s awards were the Ford Fiesta, Ford Mondeo and Ford S-MAX, which were runners up in their respective categories – small car, large car, estate car and MPV.

Andy Barratt, Ford Britain sales director, said: "We are delighted that Focus has been awarded best medium car by Diesel Car magazine. Around 50 per cent of Focus cars bought are diesels and we look forward to welcoming the Focus ECOnetic Technology to the range shortly. This will offer 83.1mpg, making it the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid family car currently available in Europe. This independent endorsement recognises Focus’s all-round appeal, as well as the UK-based Ford engineers and manufacturing specialists responsible for the diesel powertrains."
